Concealed Decay in Materials

Often quite a significant amount of deterioration and damage to materials within the structure, can be present but unable to be seen through concealment offered by linings or other abutting materials. A good example of this is the timber fascia boards in use which are concealed by the gutters fixed directly to them. The best way to minimise the levels of deterioration to building materials, is to treat and prime them accordingly at the time of construction and ensure they are installed with the best building practices. Even when this is done, where materials are exposed directly to the elements or in exterior areas, they will always deteriorate to some degree and the pro activeness of treating them at the time of construction will serve only to minimise the rate that that deterioration occurs.
